Come one, come all. Welcome, to the C2E2 comic convention! Yes, it’s that time once again for our newly coveted coverage of an event in its fourth year of worship.
For those unaware, Chicago has been hosting an exponentially growing comic convention, much akin to that of one you may have heard of, COMIC-CON. Comic-Con International: San Diego, has also been a rapidly growing fan convention over the years in both popularity, and in visitors. It is a completely unique world where one can completely personify their favorite legendary hero. Since 1970, this unique business has created major leaps and bounds in every sort of commercialized industry, usually based deeply in the graphic arts. This has currently come to cover everything from anime and manga, comics, TV shows, Movies, video games, science fiction and fantasy.
To get a clearer picture, imagine walking around one of the largest conventions you have ever been to in your life, full of people who have waited and dedicated themselves for an entire year or more, to building up their personae, costume, weaponry, mounts, and even groups of whatever their heart desires. These personas come from a deep forty-four year old background of the graphic industry. Walking through this crowded life representation of channel surfing for cartoons, you will find such wonders as the actual actors from The Avengers, Batman, Doctor Who, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Ghostbusters, James Bond, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hellboy, Star Wars, Star Trek, Warehouse 13, X-Men, etc… It runs the gamut of whatever you could imagine during that timeframe.
During this funky excursion from reality, one can enjoy to get autographs from their favorite actor, wrestler, or graphic artist. Other offerings include playing a live version of Harry Potter’s Quiddich game, attending panels on the workings of the comic and entertainment world, watching early previews of what movies are coming up, voting on a contest of amateur cosplayers, attending question and answer panels of actors giving details about their shows, or even going as far as learning how to swordfight and getting that Yoda tattoo you’ve always wanted! No matter what your entertainment desire, this convention covers it all.
