The early Nashville punk music scene with Cat Taylor [podcast]

Everybody argues when punk music officially arrived on planet earth but it’s pretty certain that its presence in Nashville in Tennessee exploded around 1980. It was chaotic in its beginnings but by the late 1980s the music city’s punk scene was firmly established and in the early 1990’s it centered largely around Lucy’s Record Shop at 1707 Church street. One participant in the scene was Cat Taylor who recently wrote and released a discography of the many recordings of the first 17 years of the movement entitled Music Row Rejects. Taylor discusses the book itself and some of the stories behind it a few miles down the road from where Lucy’s used to stand.
