With the advent of Batmania from way back in the last century, each reinvention has created a fervor. After the 60s Batman Movie and tv show, retailers were schilling anything with a bat on it. Knowing all of this, Broham was still surprised to see Mountain Dew as the proud sponsor of Christopher Nolan’s epic new movie which included exclusive footage of the film. We’re not sure which was more ridiculous, the Dark Dew logo, or the footage of everybody Kung Fu fighting… with Batman.
In attempt to remain faithful to the trilogy, we were keeping these thoughts to ourselves. That is, until we waltzed into our favorite Walgreens and stumbled upon this bad boy (at left). After the initial WTF? moment, we began to ponder how this happened. It just seems too ham-fisted to be in any way related to a Chris Nolan effort. [pullquote_right]A better campaign would be to sell Joker Juice with Heath Ledger as Joker on the label saying, “Why so thirsty, Batman?!”[/pullquote_right]
Are we alone here? Turns out no, as this ingenius little parody was recently produced. Can we get an Amen?
Ah, well. It’s just a movie, and no doubt it will still be a triumph. Perhaps this extended preview will restore faith…
